Data as inspiration

Natalie Rachel, a recent graduate from New York University, created scarves using data from online DIY marketplace Etsy. The project aims to showcase the exponential growth of Etsy from launch to present. For example, she pulled data about items sold by month and new members by months and plotted the data as graph. From these graph, she created a grid to become knitting pattern for a scarf. She created another scarf according to the proportion of items listed among three key categories (handmade, supply, vintage).
