People read less, communication is limited to 140-char short; Is the beauty of words being neglected? Maybe we should take some time to rediscover the beauty of words, language, poetry, literature…which are the origins of civilization.
Selfridges is starting 2012 with a store-wide celebration of the power of words. They transformed the Ultralounge into a library, holding literary workshops such as grammar lesson, calligraphy lesson, handwriting analysis workshop and storytelling. The project includes four window displays and a large wooden rollercoaster installation collaborated with It’s Nice That.The rollercoaster is transporting 30,000 capsules, each contains a unique fortune-telling word for 2012. There is also a temporary store selling words-related products, from scrabble, typography book to words necklace.
